Content models

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

A Learning Object (LO) can be defined as the basic (simple or complex) unit of a learning experience, a small, self-contained piece of learning that can be reused in different contexts. learn eXact supplies instructional designers with a series of modalities to computerise each aggregation at a content level and to be able to pack these contents following the desired formative strategy. For example, our template technology allows the authors to create a single SCORM object (SCO) simply by adding an image to a page and the tracking information needed to create the SCO object will be automatically created. At the same time, the users can adopt a more complex template structure to computerise the creation of a SCO that includes, for example, an index of contents and advanced interactive features. Learning Objects can be created with every granularity level with regards to the desired features and according to the nesting required by the learning choices made by the designers.

The content models, like any other type of content, are managed in the digital repository and are found by the authoring tools (XP and Online Editor). The management of the models in the digital repository allows also a version management, in order to guide the content developing processes also through the update, when necessary, of the models.

To define the Learning Object Models to upload on the platform, select "System configuration > Content models", from main menu and the following window will then display:
