A course can be seen as a box which can be described through two panels:

Property panel: it contains the general information of the course, such as title and description, availability period to the students, name of the course owner, credits supplied from the course and other information related to the course on the whole. Amongst the course properties the concept of "typology" is also included, which defines how many objects the box can contain (and also, if necessary, which ones).
Access modality panel: it contains the information about the period of time the students will see the course on the catalogue and the course enrollment modalities.

The system manages the following course typologies:

DR material: inside the course it is possible to insert only one object formed by a material published on the digital repository
URL: inside the course it is possible to insert only a single object formed by an "external" web address (not published inside the digital repository)
Structured: inside the course it is possible to insert any number of objects, each one of them can be seen as a sub-item of the box. Each sub-box can only contain one object (of the DR or URL typology) and its access modalities are automatically defined by the box they belong to (therefore, each sub-box is entirely described by the property panel)

The system has been designed to manage the different elements of a course separately:

the "Edit attributes" window allows you to edit the properties of the box which represents the course
the "Enrollment modalities" window allows you to edit the usage modalities of the course
the "Edit contents" window allows you to insert or remove the objects that can be inserted inside the box which represents the course

When the relevant plug-ins are installed, it is also possible to define a collaboration area within the course. See the Collaboration area chapter for more information.
