Publish

To publish resources or eLearning contents to the Digital Repository, select "Digital repository > Publish" from main menu. The following window displays:

It is possible to publish resources (documents, pictures, audio files etc.), SCORM/IMS Content Packages in PIF format or external URLs links.

In the Set scope section it is possible to decide the permission of the material that will be uploaded. In addition to the standard options (see Sharing Material chapter for information) it is also possible to select: Current that will apply one of the standard scopes, depending on the platform configuration, the standard configuration will set as Public the Workflow, Taxonomy and Template files, and as Private any other material.

By opening the "Labels and Comments" section, it is possible to add a label and a comment directly while publishing the material; this information is assigned to the current version of the material and will be displayed inside the "Material Versions" page.

The "Resource file" tab is automatically selected. Click on the tabs to move through the different formats and select the one corresponding to the format of the content about to be published.

 

By clicking on "Browse", it is possible to browse the local PC to find the content to publish. The following window will then pop-up:

Once the file to publish is found, click on "Open" and then on "Submit". The content will then be published on the repository, a confirmation message will appear and the following window will display:

From the top left menu either some or all of the following options will be available:

Metadata
Sharing
Version History
Branching
Workflow
Tasks
Comments
Localization
Link Updates
Material usage

Please refer to each specific section for more details.

 

Either some or all of the following options will be available from the bottom of the page depending on the user role:

 

Checkout status: by using this field, it is possible to chek-in and/or out the material in order to prevent/allow any other stakeholder to work on it.

Owner: by clicking on the "Change" button, the owner of the material can give the ownership to another user.

Sharing: by clicking on the "Share" button it is possible to edit the sharing level of the material.

Preview: by selecting "Preview", a browser pop up window will display the content. If the browser is not able to recognize the file type, a download option will be presented instead

Download: by selecting "Download" a .ZIP file with inside a physical copy of the content will be downloaded to the local PC

Update: by selecting "Update", it is possible to create a new version. The Publish window displays.Proceed like when publishing some content materials. It is then possible to view all the versions of such content by clicking on "Material versions" from the menu on the left hand side.

Delete: by selecting "Delete", the content template will be deleted from the Digital Repository.

Duplicate: by selecting "Duplicate" a copy of the file will be created as new object in the Digital Repository

Package: NOTE-this option is only available in the case that the relevant material is a Learning Object. By selecting "Package" the system will create a SCORM package containing the selected LO. For more information refer to the Create Package section.

 

From the right hand side part of the window, the following widget boxes may be displayed according to the user role and the content type:

Workflow: in this box it is possible to display some information on the material properties, workflow status and version. For more information refer to the Workflow and Material Version sections.

Edit: by clicking on the "Edit" button it is possible to edit the material by using the Online Editor. NOTE: this widget box is only available in the case that the relevant material is a Learning Object. For more information on how to use the Online Editor, please refer to the Create LO section.
