Version comparison

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

eXact LCMS allows to compare two different versions of the same learning object (or of two different learning objects belonging to the same braching tree).

To access to version comparison functionality, select "Track changes" in the popup window available in Version History page.

The version comparison engine works on Learning Objecs based on the XPT technology using an ID-based approach that compares both the content structure and the content assets (files and text).

The version comparison page shows the tree structure of the two version to be compared, assigning a different color to each "updated" item as shown in the following window:

The number on the right side of the tree structure indicates which kind of difference has been detected on the item itself:

[1] means no difference has been detected (the item is the same in the two compared version)
[2] and [3] means the item has been added / removed from the tree structure
[4] means the item has been moved within the tree structure
[5] means the item's content as been updated
[6] means the item's  properties of the item has been updated
[7] means the item's content and properties have been updated
[8] means the item has been moved and its content has been updated
[9] means the item has been moved and its properties have been updated
[10] means the item has been moved and its content and its properties have been updated
